Tere Naam (In Your Name) is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language romantic tragedy film directed by Satish Kaushik and written by Jainendra Jain. It is a remake of Bala's Tamil film Sethu (1999), which was based on a real-life incident of a friend of Bala who had fallen in love, lost his mind, and ended up at a mental asylum.

Plot summary

The film follows the story of Radhe Mohan (Salman Khan), a rowdy ex-college boy who falls in love with Nirjara Bhardwaj (Bhumika Chawla), a traditional Brahmin girl. Radhe proposes to her but she rejects him, calling him a goon. Radhe tries to impress her by giving up his violent ways, but he gets into trouble with a brothel owner who had beaten up one of his friends. Radhe saves Nirjara's sister from being tricked into prostitution, and Nirjara starts to develop feelings for him.

However, their romance is short-lived as Radhe is attacked by a gang of thugs hired by the brothel owner. He suffers a severe head injury that causes him to lose his memory and his sanity. He is admitted to an ashram where he is treated by traditional methods. Nirjara visits him and promises to marry him once he recovers. She also breaks off her engagement with another man.

Meanwhile, Radhe's brother tries to get him treated by modern medicine, but he escapes from the hospital and returns to the ashram. He gradually regains his memory and his sanity, and rushes back to Nirjara's house, only to find out that she has committed suicide after hearing false news of his death. Devastated, Radhe returns to the ashram, where he is shown being tended by the swami.
