The CCIE Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) lab allows CCIE exam candidates to take the lab, using their own devices (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse), at expanded locations and dates. The BYOD Mobile Lab exam fee is $1600 USD, a $300 USD savings compares to the $1900 USD Cisco kit mobile lab exam fee. The CCIE BYOD Mobile Lab is open for registration.

The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert, or CCIE, is a technical certification offered by Cisco Systems. CCIE candidates must first pass a written exam and then the corresponding hands-on lab exam. Though there are no formal requirements to take a CCIE certification exam, an in-depth understanding of the topics covered by the exams and three to five years of job experience are expected before attempting certification. Details: The CCIE Routing and Switching Lab exam consist of a 2-hour Troubleshooting section, a 30-minute Diagnostic section, and a 5-hour and 30-minute Configuration section. The format differs per track.
The eight-hour lab exam tests your ability to configure actual equipment and troubleshoot the network in a timed test situation. You must make an initial attempt at the CCIE lab exam within 18 months of passing the CCIE written exam. Candidates who do not pass must reattempt the lab exam within 12 months of their last scored attempt in order for their written exam to remain valid. If you do not pass the lab exam within three years of passing the written exam, you must retake the written exam before being allowed to attempt the lab exam again.
The CCIE lab exam was first introduced in 1993 with a two-day test. As there was an overwhelming demand for CCIE certification, the waiting time for taking the lab exam was at least six months. In October 2001, Cisco updated the two-day lab exam to one day by removing some of the testing measures like diagramming, IP addressing, and troubleshooting.[3]

After clearing CCIE Written, you have to wait for at least 10-15 days before you can appear for the lab exam. After that, you can schedule your lab. Since there is only one lab available in India, that too in Bangalore, you might have to wait a bit for your lab. Mobile exam lab is also available for some tracks. You can find out the detail for Mobile labs. Mobile Locations are currently available only for CCIE Routing and Switching, CCIE Security, CCIE Service Provider, and Data Center.
Three months is the time duration in between which you make changes in the scheduled exam. These changes will be free of cost. Lab Scheduling tool is the site where you can make changes in your lab exam. You can then reschedule according to preferred date or location. If you pay on the day you book the exam, you will have to choose a date less than 90 days away. You may reschedule a lab if the date is less than 91 days in the future for a fee.
